The Aurora Green Diamond is a vibrant green diamond with a thickness of 5.03 carats (1,006d) with clarity of VS2. In May 2016, Aurora Green became the largest green diamond ever to be auctioned off. The previous record was held by a 2.54 carat diamond Fancy Vivid Green VS1 sold by Sotheby's on November 17, 2009 for $ 1.22 million per carat according to Diamond Investment & amp; Intelligence Center. On May 31, 2016, the diamond, originally owned by Scarselli Diamonds was sold by Christie's for a record price of $ 3.3 million per carat for Chinese jewelry company Chow Tai Fook, for a total of $ 16.8 million.
