Early life and career

For more details about Ruby Winters record, see Part 4: Discography .
Ruby Winters was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Charles Forehand Jr. and Lucille Inez Forehand. From the age of five, after the death of his mother, Winters grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio by maternal grandmother Jeanetta Bradshaw, who encouraged the hobby of singing Winters, first expressed in church at the age of four. At the age of sixteen Winters - then a wife and mother - began singing professionally, eventually extending the focus of her performance beyond the Louisville-area function. In 1966 Winters was singing in the band Charlie Daniels, he and Daniels both managed by Bill Sizemore: Sizemore also ran singer Ronnie Dove and was able to pull the Dove label: Diamond Records, in the recording of Winters whose debut single was "In the Middle of a Heartache" composition of Charlie Daniels), recorded at Sambo Studios in Louisville for the July 1966 release, reaching the Top 30 on the hit parade for WAKY 790-Louisville.

Regional interests in Winters debut single lead Diamond Records & Phil Kahl himself oversaw Winters' next recording session that took place in Nashville in early 1967. Before Kahl left New York City with the aim of producing different Nashville sessions for Winters and others Diamond Notes acted: Johnny Thunder, label president Joe Kolsky has suggested that Kahl recorded Winters and Thunder as a duo, Kolsky has recorded the latest chart success of Peaches and Herb remakes from traditional pop "Let's Fall in Love" and also Marvin Gaye/Kim Weston's currently hit duet " It Takes Two ". Kahl's results were recorded by Winters and Thunder as a duet of 1950s pop remake "Teach Me Tonight" and "Make Love to Me": with "Make Love to Me" as the A-side single was released in February 1967 to reach # 13 R & amp; B in April 1967 enrolled at # 96 on the Hot 100 .

After Winters reaches R & amp; B national chart with his third solo release: "I Want Action", in the fall of 1967, Diamond Records took him to New York City to work with George Kerr who recently produced R & B hit for O'Jays and Linda Jones. With his regular collaborator: arranger Richard Tee, Kerr returned Winters with Johnny Thunder for "We Have Only One Life", released in February 1968 for a shortage chart. Kerr also has a Winters record of "Last Minute Miracle" which he had in 1967 recorded with Shirelles for the release of regional singles and also (as "A Last Minute Miracle") with Linda Jones (with all three versions apparently sharing common support lines); But the Winters version has not been released yet, "We Have Only One Life" remains the only release for 1968. But Winters made a strong comeback in 1969 with four hit R & B started with the highest solo hit in America, Winters remake of 1961 Chuck Jackson hit "I Do not Want Cry", Winters reached # 15 R & amp; B in February 1969 and signed up at # 99 on Hot 100: two of Winters's next three singles were also remade, in particular "Only a Dream" and "Guess Who" (original by Jimmy Clanton and Jesse Belvin respectively). In 1970, Winters' recording schedule again slowed and there was no release until January 1971 when the recording of the Great Speckled Bird hymn was published by Certron, who had absorbed the sick Diamond Records: after Certron absorbed himself in 1972 by Cutlass Records, Winters was announced is on the label list Cutlass R & amp; B Hotline but Winters actually did not have a clear release before Cutlass folded in 1973.

I Will and next career

For more details about Ruby Winters record, see Part 4: Discography .
Winters had the first proven single release in nearly three years in October 1973 when Polydor Records published a Winters version of "I Will" a composition of Dick Glasser that had been mapped in the 1960s to Vic Dana and Dean Martin: while proving to be Winters' the most significant recording, his version of "I Will" in the original release just reached R & B Top 40. Winters has one further release on Polydor: "Love Me Now" (written by Paul Kelly), who reached # 1 on the hit march for WAKY 790-Louisville which counts for the 1974 "Love Me Now" rating at # 7: while not registering on Billboard Hot 100 "Love Me Now" is ranked in the singles charts of both the Money Box and Record World with position peaks of # 95 and # 91 respectively. Two Polydor's second single releases from Winters were recorded in Nashville with Stan Shulman and Dean Mathis producing, such as Playboy Records's one-on-one release from Winters: version # 1 1972 Nilsson hit "Without You" which reached # 95 R & amp; B in December 1975.

In the mid 1970s Winters withdrew from recording, moving in 1973 from Tennessee to Brevard County (Florida) and establishing himself as a top-class Space Coast nightclub player. But in 1977, the London-based independent label Creole Records released the recording of Winters 'I Will' which reached # 4 on the UK Singles Chart in December 1977. Reuniting with producer Stan Shulman, Winters recorded the song - in Audio Media in Nashville as well Muscle Shoals - to complete the album I Will from which a single follow-up: "Come to Me", was released to reach # 11 UK: Millennium Records took I Will album for release AS with title cuts returns Winters for the last time to Billboard R & amp; B chart (# 97) (US follow-up single: "Treat Me Right", will not chart). In the UK, the next two singles were released from the first "I Will": "I Will not Call it Again", reaching # 45 UK. Winters will reach the fourth and final British chart with "Baby Lay Down" (# 43 UK) from the 1979 Songbird album (#NE 1045), the last of which is an extension of Album> I Will with new songs - including "Baby Lay Down" - recorded in Nashville released at Stan Shulman K-tel Records: another new Songbird song: "Back to Love", will be in August 1979 became a clear final release of Winters recording career.
