Tidal Stream - using Tidal Diamonds - YouTube

Tidal diamond is a symbol on the UK admiralty graph showing the direction and speed of tidal flows.

The symbols consist of the basic Latin alphabet letter ISO in rhombus, printed in purple ink. On a particular chart each tidal diamond will have a unique letter starting from "A" and continuing alphabetically.

Somewhere on the chart, generally on land, will be the Diamond Tidal table . It contains a thirteen row grid and three columns for each Diamond. The line is the clock of the tidal cycle showing 6 hours before the high water, the high water itself and 6 hours after the high water. The column shows the direction of tidal flow and its velocity, in knots, during spring tides and seawater. The time on the table is related to the high water of the standard port displayed on the table.

An alternative to tidal diamond is the post attribute that is often more accurate and easier to use (if available).
