Blue Diamond Growers are agricultural cooperatives and California marketing organizations that specialize in almonds. Founded in 1910 as the Almond California Farmers Market, the organization claims to be the world's largest peanut processing and marketing company. It serves 3,500 almond farmers, and helps make California's largest almonds (worth more than $ 1 billion) food export.
The company produces almonds in various forms, including grilled almonds (under the "Blue Diamond" brand) and almond milk (under the brand "Almond Breeze").
Cooperatives are private and do not disclose sales figures, although Sacramento Bee predicts an annual sale of about $ 709 million in 2009.
The organization is headquartered in Sacramento, California. From 2004 to 2008, he rejected the efforts of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union to organize workers at its processing plant. Blue Diamond was discovered by the National Labor Relations Board to violate federal labor laws in its campaign against trade unions. However, in November 2008, the union lost control of the NLRB-supervised vote to establish a branch.
