Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano ( Spanish pronunciation: Ã, [le'ti? ja] ; born September 15, 1972) is the current Queen of Spain as wife of King Felipe VI.
Letizia Ortiz came from a middle-class family and worked as a journalist for ABC and EFE before becoming a newsreader on CNN and TelevisionÃÆ'³n EspaÃÆ' Â ± ola. In 2003, it was announced that he was engaged to marry Felipe, then Prince Asturias and heir to the throne of Spain. They married in 2004. Their daughters, Leonor and Sofa, were born in 2005 and 2007 respectively. As Princess Asturias, Letizia represents her father-in-law, King Juan Carlos, in Spain and abroad. On the kidnapping of his father-in-law in 2014, Felipe and Letizia became King and Queen of Spain.

Family
Letizia was born in Oviedo, Asturias, to a middle-class family. He is the eldest daughter of JesÃÆ'ºs JosÃÆ'Â © Ortiz ÃÆ' lvarez, a journalist, and his first wife, MarÃÆ'a de la Paloma Rocasolano RodrÃÆ'guez, a registered nurse and hospital union representative. She has two younger sisters, Telma (b. 1973) and ÃÆ'â € rica (1975-2007), whose deaths are widely reported by the press as being a deliberate overdose of prescription drugs.
His parents divorced in 1999 and his father remarried in Madrid on March 18, 2004 to fellow journalist Ana Togores.
Grandparents of Letizia were Josà ©  © Luis Ortiz Velasco (ca. 1923-2005), a commercial employee at Olivetti; and MarÃÆ'a del Carmen "Menchu" ÃÆ' lvarez del Valle (born 1928), a radio announcer in Asturias for over 40 years. Her maternal grandfather was Francisco Julio Rocasolano Camacho (1918-2015), a mechanic and taxi driver in Madrid for more than 20 years who came from France and Occitan. Letizia's maternal grandmother Enriqueta Rodriguez Figueredo (1919-2008) was born in the Philippines to Spanish parents.
The lineage of British descent has provided evidence that through the lineage of his mother Rocasolano, Letizia descended from Astorg Roquesoulane (died in 1564) and his emblem combines the arms of the Rocasolano family. The report has suggested - and remains unproved - that on the side of the paternal grandfather, Letizia is the descendant of an unnamed family descended from medieval nobility who serves as Police from Castile.

Education and career
Letizia studied at La Gesta School in Oviedo, before her family moved to Rivas-Vaciamadrid near Madrid, where she attended high school at Ramiro de Maeztu. He completed his bachelor's degree in journalism, at the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as a master's degree in audiovisual journalism at the Institute for Studies in Audiovisual Journalism.
During his studies, Letizia worked for the Asturian daily newspaper La Nueva Espaà ± a and later for the ABC and the EFE news agency. After completing his master's degree, he went to Guadalajara, Mexico, worked in the Siglo 21 newspaper and was working on his PhD; However, he did not complete his doctoral thesis because he returned to Spain. After returning to Spain, he worked for the Spanish version of Bloomberg channel before moving to the CNN news network.
In 2000, he moved to TVE, where he started working for the Horas 24 news channel. First marriage
Letizia married Alonso Guerrero PÃÆ' Â © rez (born in 1962), a writer and a high school literary teacher, on August 7, 1998, in a simple civil ceremony at Almendralejo, in Badajoz, after a 10-year courtship. The marriage was dissolved by a divorce in 1999.
Marriage and second child
On November 1, 2003, to the surprise of many, the Royal Household announced Letizia's engagement to Felipe, then Prince Asturias. After that, he moved to stay in the wing of the Zarzuela Palace until his wedding day. Prince Asturias has proposed to him with a 16-baguette diamond engagement ring with white gold trim. He marked the occasion by giving him white gold and sapphire cuffs and classic books.
The marriage took place on May 22, 2004 at the Cathedral of Santa MarÃÆ'a la Real de la Almudena in Madrid. It was the first royal wedding in this cathedral. It has been almost a century since the capital celebrated royal marriage, because the princely princes were married in Athens, and his sisters, Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina, were each married in Sevilla and Barcelona.
Letizia's wedding dress is designed by Spanish fashion designer Manuel Pertegaz, her wedding shoes by Pura LÃÆ'³pez; and hijab, a gift from Felipe for the bride, made of clean white silk cloth and hand embroidered with detail.
Since Letizia's previous marriage involved only civil ceremonies, the Catholic Church did not consider it legitimate and therefore did not require the cancellation to continue Catholic marriage with Prince Asturias.

Princess Letizia soon joined in her husband's duties and traveled extensively through Spain representing her father-in-law. They also represent Spain in other countries: he has traveled with her husband to Jordan, Mexico, Hungary, Dominican Republic, Panama, USA, Serbia, Brazil, Uruguay, Sweden, Denmark, Japan, China and Portugal. He also greeted international officials, along with other members of the royal family. Letizia also attended foreign royalty meetings in Luxembourg, for the silver wedding anniversary of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, and in the Netherlands for the 40th anniversary of Prince Orange.
His solo agenda was announced in 2006, shortly after the announcement of his second pregnancy. Letizia has conducted several audiences and her work focuses on social issues such as children's rights, culture, and education. At the end of 2007, his solo agenda began to grow in the number of events he did himself and Felipe and Letizia's agendas became more distinct and separate.
Letizia supported Spanish designers, from couturiers like Felipe Varela and Lorenzo Caprile to Zara and Mango, and continued as queen queen.
Queen of Spain
On June 19, 2014, Letizia became Queen of Spain; thus, he holds the Majesty style. She is the queen of the first Spanish-born queen since the Mercedes of Orlà © ans, the first wife of Alfonso XII. He was also the first Spanish queen born as an ordinary person. Queen Letizia performed her first solo engagement as queen on June 23, 2014 at the inauguration of El Greco and a modern painting exhibition at the National Prado museum in Madrid.
In their first overseas trip as king and queen, Felipe VI and Letizia met Pope Francis on June 30, 2014, at the Apostolic Palace. They then met Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, accompanied by Mgsr. Antoine Camilleri, deputy secretary for Relations with the State. This visit was followed by King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia on April 28.
In 2015, Letizia was named the Special Ambassador for Nutrition for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Letizia and Felipe and the daughters still live in the residence where they lived since 2004. It is claimed that the Zarzuela Palace is the only workplace for Felipe.
In March 2016, leaked text messages between Letizia and businessman Javier Lopez Madrid created controversy. Together with other executives and council members of the financial group Caja Madrid and Bankia, Madrid has been accused of corruption. In October 2014 Letizia promised her support for her, sending out a message, "We know who you are and you know who we are, we know each other, love each other, respect each other, hell with the others Kisses yoga mate (miss you!
