The Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF) is a non-profit organization that promotes the transparency and fair trade of colorful diamonds. The foundation was started in 2005 and officially inaugurated in November 2014. FCRF conducts research on all aspects of luxury color diamonds and publishes the Fancy Diamond Index (FCDI) quarterly updates, which illustrates price changes in the color market behavior of luxury pink, blue and blue diamonds yellow in various sizes and levels of saturation. FCDI tracks pricing behavior over time and does not publish actual pricing.
The Foundation operates from the Israeli Diamond Exchange in Ramat Gan, Israel and New York, NY, USA.

History
The Fancy Color Research Foundation was established in 2005 when the organization began collecting data for wholesale diamond color market prices. Data were collected for nearly ten years before the first quarterly update of the Fancy Color Diamond Index (FCDI) in January 2015. In addition to FCDI, the foundation publishes proprietary research articles and develops digital tools for the luxury color diamond segment.

Research
FCRF publishes research articles on luxury color topics such as pre-auction analysis, market research, and industry-specific subjects. From 2005 to 2014, FCRF confirmed that the luxury colored diamond has experienced an average total appreciation of 154.7%. The Financial Times reports that Daniela Mascetti, a senior specialist at the international jewelry department at Sotheby, has expressed interest in FCRF data because "the color category of luxury diamonds is highly nuanced and subjective."
Philanthropy
Most of the Fancy Color Research Foundation's earnings are reinvested in further research and education, and any surpluses are donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
