Biografi
Asal-usulnya (1997-2000)
Elvenking was formed in late October 1997 by two guitarist friends, Aydan and Jarpen, both sharing a passion for metal music and folklore. Although they soon joined Sargon as a bassist, the young band faced many problems with the line-up that prevented them from progressing. In March 1998, Damnagoras joined the band as lead singer, and was followed by the arrival of Zender drummer in September. Only then did the band find any definite stability.
Elvenking members are meant to create a fusion of metal music and folk music. After gaining experience through many events, the band decided to record a promotional album, To Oak Woods Bestowed , in 2000. Damnagoras featured lead vocals and bass for the recording and subsequent concerts as Sargon who had previously left the band.. The demo was quite successful to allow Elvenking to sign a contract with the German label AFM Records.
Soon afterwards, Gorlan, Aydan's friend and Jarpen, fully joined as a bassist. He has appeared earlier as a session player.
The first six albums (2001-2010)
The first full-length album Heathenreel was recorded in New Sin Audio Design by Luigi Stefanini and mixed in Fredman Studios by Fredrik Nordstrom. The cover artwork was created by Travis Smith and the band logo was designed by J.P. Fournier, who also designed the cover for Avantasia and Immortal. The album was released on July 23, 2001 and received praise from metal critics around the world. Elvenking then toured Europe at various festivals with popular metal action including Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Edguy and Virgin Steele.
In August 2002, singer Damnagoras took time off from the band due to health problems. Elvenking then recruited a new vocalist, Kleid, who revitalized the spirit of folk music in the band. Elyghen, the violinist and keyboard, joins soon after. The shift in the line-up caused their second album, Wyrd , recorded at Gernhart's studio in Siegburg with Martin Buchwalter, and mixed & amp; controlled in the House of music studio with Achim Kolher and released on April 19, 2004.
In late 2004 Damnagoras returned, taking Kleid's place, and Elvenking began working on their third album, The Winter Wake.
On February 4, 2005, founder Jarpen's guitarist left Elvenking. Aydan commented:
"Jarpen does not feel comfortable playing Elvenking anymore for losing his passion in this sort of thing. She has long talked to us and when Damna returns, knows the direction we want, he tells us that is willing to leave, We have tried to convince him to try it but that did not work.
This is really a sad thing because Jarpen is one of the founding members and we have created all this from the beginning together, but on the other hand being friends before our musicians know that this is what Jarpen wants and we are very respectful of his decision. We'll miss you, buddy! "
The Winter Wake was released and aired live on March 11, 2006 in Pordenone, Italy.
On November 3, 2006, a new album was announced to be done according to the official website; The Scythe was released on September 14, 2007.
On April 14, 2008, the band announced that they started working on the next album and it would be an "acoustic album". In a later post the band explained that when they see this new album as an opportunity to explore their folk influence it will also be an opportunity for them to experiment in new fields as well. Also added that they already have some material written for the "heavy" album; However, this album will wait until after the acoustic album is released.
On January 14, 2009, the band announced the addition of a new guitarist, Raffaello "Rafahel" Indri. Rafahel has been playing live with the band for two years before being added as a permanent member.
On September 29, 2009 the band. announced Lethien became their new live violinist. Lethien will also take the Elyghen place in the rehearsal room until the last one returns to Italy.
On February 9, 2010 it was announced that Dennis Ward would produce Elvenking's new album, with Mat Sinner taking on the role of executive producer. The recording begins on March 20th. The album, titled Red Silent Tides , was released on September 17 in Europe, and November 9 in North America.
After the release of Red Silent Tides , the band embarked on a full European tour to support the album. Part of the tour was spent supporting the German Primal Fear power metal band.
Era and Pagan Manifesto (2011-Now)
In early 2011, drummer Zender left the band and was replaced by Symohn. The recording for the new album starts early next year. The Era was released in September 2012 and saw the band return to their pagan roots with a more common element of the people blending in with their traditional heavy metal sound.
Elvenking released their 8th studio album titled Pagan Manifesto on May 9, 2014 in the United Kingdom and on May 27, 2014 in the US, with an equally uniform arrangement of previous attempts. The first single, Elvenlegions, was released on SoundCloud and is a dedication for the fans. The music video for the song was released in late April. The album marks the return to the folk/power metal sound of the band's first two albums. The song "King Of The Elves" contains a medley of "White Willow", a song from their first album, Heathenreel , as well as reviewing a few lines of familiar song lyrics. The track is approximately 13 minutes longest in the Elvenking catalog.
In September 2014, the Elvenking Website launched a fan poll asking fans to choose songs for the band to perform live during the next leg of the band's "Pagan Manifestour". The three most popular songs chosen by fans are "Chronicle of a Frozen Era", "Poison Tears", and "White Willow".
The official lyrics video for "Draugen's Maelstrom" on their upcoming album was released on October 5, 2017. On November 10, 2017, Elvenking released their 9th studio album titled Secret of Magick Grimoire with Symohn being replaced by Lancs on drums.
