History
The Diamonds franchise started in 2002 by owner Dawn Berndt. During its inaugural season, Diamonds finished with a 5-5 record. The following season, Diamonds were upgraded to 8-2 and entered the playoffs as a wild card team. They lost in their home, the Birdville Fine Arts Complex at Florida Stingrays who moved to lose the championship game.
In 2004, Diamonds recruited a solid rookie class and passed the season unbeaten. The Diamonds marched through a playoff beating Houston Energy, SoCal Scorpions and finally Northern Ice for their first title.
In 2005, Diamonds continued their winning streak and ended the season unbeaten. In the playoffs, they beat Houston Energy, SoCal Scorpions and New York Dazzles for their second title.
In 2006, the victory continued until Diamond broke the WPFL record with 33 consecutive wins. The loss came to rival Houston Energy in Houston, TX. The League was reorganized in 2006 and separated these two power generation teams into conferences. It gives what are the two best teams statistically with a chance to face a championship game. Both teams hit the Championship and struggled back and forth with some lead changes until the Diamonds drew ahead 34-27 at the start of the 4th quarter and never let go of excellence.
In 2007, injuries and pensions hit the franchise. In their first regular season without a playoff venue, management takes a different approach. Offering the players a chance to play in a new league, several players came out of retirement to join IWFL in 2008. Playing Chicago Force in Chicago, Diamonds won the IWFL Championship 2008. The Diamonds currently play at Pennington Field in Bedford, Texas and have a board the most active message in women's football at www.dallasdiamondsfootball.com.
In 2009, Diamonds completed another regular season unbeaten, winning the title of the South Atlantic Division. However, other IWFL titles are not on the cards, as they lost the Eastern Conference Semifinals to Boston Militia, 34-14.
In 2010, Diamonds won another division title, this time ending first in the Midwest Division at 7-1. Although they beat the Chicago Force 27-20 in the Western Conference Semifinals, they will lose to Sacramento Sirens 45-43 in the title game of the conference.
For the 2011-2013 season, the Diamonds are played in Women's Football Alliance.
