The Slow Mo Guys are web series of science and technology entertainment created by Gavin Free, starring himself and Daniel Charles Gruchy. It has been described as the largest channel for slow motion videos on YouTube.
The series consists of a variety of things that are filmed in extreme slow movements using various Vision Phantom high-speed camera research, capable of shooting more than 343,000 frames per second. The series airs on November 3, 2010. As of May 2018, their YouTube channel has over 11 million subscribers, 222 videos and more than one billion video views.

In 2007, Gavin Free joined Green Door Films, the first production house in Europe to take advantage of Phantom's high-speed digital cameras as a slow motion source, working as a data engineer and camera operator. He started working on ads, music videos, and movies like Hot Fuzz. In 2008, he was hired to direct the seventh season of the Dental Rooster Red vs Blue
Free and Gruchy met while working at Waitrose in their home areas of Oxfordshire. The Slow Mo Guys , featuring slow motion footage of various jokes and the action of the couple, has accumulated millions of views since its launch in 2010. According to Free, the name comes partly from Richard Hammond's made comments. in the Top Gear set.
"[Richard] Hammond was the first person to call me a" slow mo guy "because he knew there was a high-speed camera on the photo shoot we were doing, which he toured in Formula 1 cars. And he jumped over the wall as we were preparing Phantom... he said, "oh you must be slow mo people," and I think it sounds good. "
In April 2011, this channel was selected as the winner of the YouTube program On The Rise , which highlights YouTube partners already on the homepage. In September 2012, their episodes involving the destruction of watermelons are featured on the The Tonight Show .
On February 20, 2013, Free confirmed that the series has been taken by Rooster Teeth and the next episode of the series will be released on the Rooster Teeth website, as well as an existing YouTube channel. The best compilation was released by Rooster Teeth Productions for home video on September 10, 2013.
In January 2014, in collaboration with GE Global Research, R & D General Electric, they released a video featuring the company's latest innovations, including a superhydrophobic surface and how magnetic nanoparticles behave like molten magnets. Two additional videos featuring them demonstrating MEMS and 3D "cold spray" painting technology were also released on GE's official YouTube channel.
Gruchy is a former explosives expert from the British Army and has plans to move to Texas to join Gavin.
This series has been featured as part of the YouTube "Rewind" review video in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The series was nominated for Webby Award at Best Web Personality/Host (Film Online & amp; Video) in 2016. In 2016 Streamy Awards, this series won in Cinematography category.
Free and Gruchy launch their Original YouTube, The Super Slow Show , in 2018. It's basically The Slow Mo Guys , but on a larger scale, featuring new equipment ; greater action, such as breaking through walls; and special guests, including Dylan Sprouse and Mayim Bialik. There is some confusion between viewers, whether this is an exclusive YouTube Premium, or an ad-supported event, in the same tone as Rhett and Good Mythical Morning Link, but Free takes comments to confirm the latter.
