The flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was adopted on October 21, 1985. It consisted of a vertical tricolor of blue, gold (double width) and green with three green diamonds arranged in a V pattern centered on a gold band, representing the Grenadine Islands fall under the rule of Saint Vincent. This diamond reminds Saint Vincent as the "jewel of Antillen". Blue symbolizes the tropical sky and crystal water, the yellow color means Grenadine gold sand, and green means lush vegetation on the island. The diamonds are set low on the yellow ribbon, given the country's location in Antilles.

The previous flag had a realistic breadfruit leaf, where the present gem, adorned with the emblems of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
