History
Skinner & amp; Co was founded in 1880. In 1893 Spencer Compton Cavendish, the 8th Duke of Devonshire commissioned jewelry makers to make diamond corona for his wife Louisa Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire. She is seen as a fashion and community leader, holding many balls in Devonshire House and is well known for her amazing jewelry. To create a coronet, the 8th Duke of Devonshire moves diamonds in Devonshire Parure and other heirlooms, such as 6th Duke's Garter Star. This amounts to 1,041 diamonds, of which Skinner adds 840 others.
Bentley & amp; Co. was established in 1934. The two companies joined together in 1997 creating Bentley & amp; Skinner, Jewelers by Royal Appointment.
