Bagaimana menjual berlian longgar?

I have inherited 40 loose diamonds, in the 1-3-carat range, all the pieces (mostly cut round, with some emerald chunks). There is no clear documentation or certification, and I suspect that most were cut 35 to 35 years ago. I want to sell it. My goal:

1) To get the best price possible.

2) To stay safe.

I suspect that the best way to get a good price is to bring them to some jewelry, each judging them (watching them all the time so they do not swap gems at me), and take the highest bid on every rock. However, I am a bit worried about security. There is a risk someone sees me sitting with jewelry, after the gem is judged, will wait until I leave, then rob me, and maybe shoot me.

A) So how can I do this safely?

B) One of my thoughts is to put it in a safe deposit box in the bank, and ask the jewelry seller to come there for an assessment. Do they make home calls like that?

C) Do they charge for it, versus free appraisals in their store?

D) And does the bank allow that?

E) And how long does it take to rate each diamond?

F) Also, what is a good site to find the price I can expect when selling diamonds (as opposed to jewelry selling them), given the pieces, color, clarity, condition and rust?

G) What about using an independent appraiser (who does not buy or sell) Ã,? They charge a fee, and I'm not sure what their assessment is worth, because the buyer is likely to insist on doing their own judgment. So, is my instinct to pass them and just get some offers from the right buyer?

H) Should I look for a written GIA certification number (or other serial number) on an old diamond like that?

I) Can I sell diamonds anonmyously, so there is no record of my address, for potential thieves to use to try to find more diamonds? Did they give me a check written for "money"?

I am in the Ann Arbor area of Michigan, but would like to drive across Southeastern Michigan to get a good price.

Follow-up question: What's the typical markup on a loose diamond? That is, how many more are sold by retailers than they would pay? And is it linear, or should I expect a higher percentage of markup on smaller diamonds? 68,79,93,3 (speak) 18:06, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

In cases like yours (see above), I hope they have a fairly high markup Nil Einne (talk) 03:48, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

Cree Region

Why is not the area for Cree or ojibway as Nunavut for innuits? Is it planned in the future? Why is the lottery reserve so small even though Native Americans make up the majority in many parts of Canada especially in the north? - Kaiyr (talk) 10:13, July 16, 2011 (UTC) Above copied from Wikipedia: Canada Wikipedians' announcement board. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 17:04, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

Besides Nunavut there is also Nunavik, Inuvialuit Settlement Area and Nunatsiavut which are all Inuit places with a certain degree of autonomy. Non-Inuit Aboriginal people in Canada either MÃÆ'Ã… © tis or First Nation and Northwest Territories are the only places other than Nunavut where Aboriginal people are in the majority. Currently Northwest Government, Federal Government and First Countries/MÃ © this are discussing about self-government area, see here. Though not quite what you're asking for, look at the List of communities in the Northwest Territory under the governance section. Unfortunately the amount of information on the Canadian # Aboriginal title is small and I do not know much about claims beyond NWT or Nunavut. Maybe someone else can help with that. Some Cree were parties to the 1975 James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreements which gave them a special hunting/fishing rights of more than 70% of Quebec. Rmhermen (talk) 17:24, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

For the First Nation living further south, and having been in touch with European colonial power back as far back as the sixteenth century, the situation is much more complicated. Europeans have never really colonized the Arctic, at least not so far as they do in central and eastern Canada, so there are not many legal situations that already exist in the north like in the south/east. For example, in Ontario (I'm certainly not an expert in this field but I know a little more about Ontario than the other provinces), there is an agreement with indigenous groups and tribes of individuals from the 18th century. In some cases, the indigenous population does not understand the legal consequences of what they agree on, and sometimes the UK does not really follow the terms of the agreement. Sometimes indigenous people have just been forced out of the ground without any covenant process at all, especially in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. If I remember this correctly, some indigenous groups have tried to bring land claims to court, but there are so many cases to be faced that it could take decades, perhaps even centuries, to settle any claim. Sometimes there are armed conflicts between indigenous peoples and local and provincial governments, not a protracted legal process; Oka Crisis in Quebec for example, and Ipperwash Crisis and Caledonia land dispute in Ontario. There is some more information about this in the Numbered Agreement, the Agreement of India, and the Crown of Canada and Aboriginal peoples. Adam Bishop (talk) 13:12, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Artificial gem

I have several labs that create gems, and wonder what their value is, if any. Two are red, cylindrical rubies, weighing 13 grams (65 carats) and 18 grams (90 carats). I believe they were originally made for ruby lasers. 68.79.93.3 (talk) 18:03, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

Morion Company sells "Floating Point" (?) red ruby for $ 2.50 carat. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:03, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Interesting. So it seems, unlike diamonds, the price of rubies is very linear with size. I think that makes sense with gems that can be produced in quantities in the lab. So, my ruby will sell for $ 387.50, definitely worth selling, even if I can only get half of it. 68.79.93.3 (talk) 03:05, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
(OR) At the end of World War II in the Philippines, locals sell "rubies" to gullible US soldiers. The rubies are thought to be brake fragments from vehicles. That's what I heard. Cuddlyable3 (talk) 13:23, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

Pearl

How do I estimate the value of white pearl loose? One is 1 gram, the other is 2 gram.68.79.93.3 (talk) 20:54, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

It is very difficult to say because there are many unknowns. Larger pearls are not always more valuable because they sometimes have disadvantages due to their long growing periods, other than that depending on the quality of colors, shapes, and many other factors. What should I see?

You have this video tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM6lGNhPujE where I think you should see a pretty ugly face. I do not understand at all. Whatever the effect should be, I do not understand. When I see the women, they are not bad. When I look at the cross, I just see the flashing image on the side. When I see a blinking picture I just see the faces of various people. Whatever the effect, it does not work. Can anyone tell me what I should see? I may be unusual because I always fail on certain illusory types of images. For example, do you know those pictures, stereographic or something like that, where you should see a picture if you stare long, enough, relax your eyes, obscure your vision and so on? I first discovered it about thirty years ago and I still have never seen any pictures in it.-- 108.46.103.142 (talk) 18:28, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

This works for me. When I focus on the cross, I do not get the impression of seeing faces clearly, but I get the impression of grotesqueness. Looie496 (talk) 19:35, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
They "inventors" have made presentations more complicated than necessary. With a slight variation on the effect presentation, I get the same effect with only 1 face change, as long as I do not see directly in it. Part of it seems to bring photographs in the visual area apart from different foveal areas of vision, so we never see them clearly. I also want to vary the presentation level. Edison (talk) 19:58, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
This works for me. A face image is not just an array of pixels, it will be regarded as a person but reaching a subjective conclusion takes a little time. Once achieved, we are very sensitive to face changes. When images of different faces are shown sequentially faster than images that can see them as separate people, they are all regarded as one person who experiences irregularities, and hence terrible, distortion. For the OP, the video may not work for you if your time to see someone from his face is longer or shorter than average. Do not think of it as a failure. If interested, see the article on Autostereograms (which does not work for me). Cuddlyable3 (talk) 02:06, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
It seems to me that, when not looking directly at them, I see different parts of the face change at different times. So, I might see the eyes have moved but for a split second do not notice that the rest of the face has moved, so I "see" the eye in a strange place, which makes the face look distorted. This will be done by the way we recognize the face. See Face Perception for some discussion of the subject. --Tango (talk) 02:31, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

That's wild. Cool. Looks like something from X Files or They Live. ?????? (Talk) 20:09, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

This is not a very impressive effect, compared to the result of looking at the spiral spinning, then looking at a person's face, in which case the face seems to flow inward or in the opposite direction with a real spiral movement. I suspect that if analyzed carefully, we will find a specific example of one of the well-known perception effects of things that change beyond the foveal vision. Get rid of frills and see basic phenomena. Edison (talk) 17:29, July 19, 2011 (UTC)
If your effect is much better, why not post the link. ?????? (talk) 01:18, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
I am referring to the spiral effect. Look at [1] for 30 seconds, then see someone's face. They will look like morph as a super special effect in a wolfman movie, with parts of the face flowing in and others out (do not stare so long until you are hypnotized.) Edison 5:14, July 20, 2011 (UTC) dd>

Administrative Region of Northwest Region

Where can I get a map of the Administrative area of the Northwest Territories? - Kaiyr (talk) 20:18, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

Northwest Region in which country? Rcsprinter (talk) 21:03, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
I think OP means a Canadian province called the Northwest Territories. HominidMachinae (talk) 21:28, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
I guess you're asking about Northwest Territories, Canada? If that's the case then you can find it here. Royor (talk) 21:29, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
It shows the development of NWT. I think what they mean is a map to match the List of Northwest Region # Administrative regions with their regional seats. If so I have never been able to find it, but there must be one place somewhere. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 22:50, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
Your intentions for Inuvik Region, Sahtu Region, Dehcho Region, Northern Slave Area, and Southern Slave Area? This is a rough map of Camping NWT. I'm sure a more detailed map is on the atlas somewhere (real life library reference desk would probably be the best way to do it). Royor (talk) 23:34, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
      • Yes! List of Northwest Territories # Administrative regions with their regional seats.-- Kaiyr (talk) 23:31, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
Royor, I think that's the only regional map I've ever seen. If you see the question "Cree Territories" above, there is still an ongoing land claim. Also some First Countries/Meters do not recognize GNWT so it may be the reason why there is no map showing the area. I find it strange that GNWT or Atlas Canada does not have it. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 03:10, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Is this the type of map you're looking for? (Pdf Map)... This is from the official government website of Northwest Territories. - Michael J 11:02, July 19, 2011 (UTC)
Now I feel very stupid for having seen that before. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 14:17, July 20, 2011 (UTC)
